This is a short video showing the progression of how my digital painting "Woman With An Umbrella" came about.
I started with a simple gradient in Painter 2017, testing the new "interactive gradients" available. The process involves the use of full page gradients as well as restricting the gradient to only certain areas by means of selections, that is how I created the female figure and the umbrella. I then used hand brush strokes and auto painting on some parts of the background.
Needless to say I fell in love with this technique and am working on a series of paintings following the same procedure!

I just came across an image of mine that someone is using on their Twitter account without my permission. I politely emailed the person and asked to take it down or give the proper credit. The photograph is of a cat I used to have, named Cleo and it is one of my earlier images in my career but one that I am proud of. It is only available on my Flickr account and has been viewed close to 10000 times.
I never gave much thought to someone stealing any of my images but seeing it now was kind of a shock to me. Hopefully that person will do the right thing!!! smile emoticon

Hello everyone,
Welcome to my first post on my new Blog. I will be transitioning some articles from my previous Blog that I had with another provider to this one but for now I will start with a brand new post.

The month of December 2014 has a very special significance for me, as it is when I finished and published my first book "The essence of The Green Island". There is a print and an electronic version with links provided at the bottom of this post.

This book is a photographic essay of my last visit to the island where I was born, the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, also known as "The Green Island", due to all the lush vegetation throughout. It includes 50 photographs in black and white of some of the places and things that remind me of the great times I had when I lived there for the first 30 years of my life.
I love black and white photography and as such I decided to have all the photos in BW so all distractions are taken away and show the viewer the simplicity and beauty of each scene.
