Image from my photo book �the essence of The Green Island�, a photographic essay of the island where I was born, with black and white photographs of some of the locations I think are most representative of the beauty of Sao Miguel in the Azores.
Wanting to reveal just the essence of each scene, I chose to present all the photographs in the book in black and white.
The Sete Cidades Lake (Lagoa das Sete Cidades) is formed by two volcanic craters, one with blue and the other with green toned water. The blue reflects the sky and the green reflects the vegetation from the bottom of the lake and around it. This is a view from Vista do Rei. I was lucky this day as most times the clouds are lower than you from this point of view and cover the lake.
